This mini unit will explicitly step students through the skill of identifying a problem and the solution in a story, using a selection of picture books. The unit begins by defining what makes a problem and a solution, identifying them in context, placing the problem and solution within BME sequence and exploring the strategy of ‘Writers License’ to spruce up small moments. The lessons that form this mini-unit can be adapted to suit older year levels with a simple text switch, to assist the development of narrative writing.
